where is shimron?
Answering an objection to the post on "Ta-Ha Surah 20 verses 83-97" ~ Calling Muslims:
Someone has objected and said that as-Samiri(A Muslim legend says his full name was Harun as Samiri, odd since Harun is the Arabic form of Aaron) is not named after the place in Israel called Samaria, but He is Shimron or someone of the family of Shimron of the tribe of Issachar.
Numbers 26:23–24 (NASB95) 23 The sons of Issachar according to their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the family of the Punites; 24 of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.
Below is some linguistic background on the Words Samaria and Shimron
Shimron or ְִֹׁ Shimrwn in Hebrew : shim-rone´; from 8105 in its orig. sense; guardianship; Shimron, the name of an Isr. and of a place in Pal.:—Shimron.

If our Muslim friend wants to make the argument that as-Samiri is Shimron or one of Shimron's children there are still major problems. Some of the salaf like Qatada said as-Samiri was of the tribe Samaria and that he lost his faith. As I said in the first post there is no tribe of Samaria among the 12 tribes of Israel. Even if we by pass this, Shimron and His descendants are never recorded as losing their faith, let alone doing something as abominable as creating an idol to corrupt the Children of Israel.
" Zebulun and Issachar were two of the sons of Israel of the twelve tribes of Judah. Issachar and his sons- Tola, Puvah, Jashub and Shimron (Gen 46: 13) immigrated to Egypt with Jacob's family (Exod 1: 3). At the census of the new generation (Numbers 26: 23- 24), the children of the four sons of Issachar numbered some 64,300 and the children of Zebulun's children numbered 65,500.

Issachar, Zebulun and their offspring were instrumental in the battles of their nation. Issachar's offspring had great effect in the battle of Deborah and Barak (Judges 5: 15) and in fact their home territory was the scene of several key battles in ancient times including those of Gideon (Judges 7) and Saul (1 Samuel 28). In the time of David, Issachar held the fewest chief's of all: only some 200- (1 Chr 12: 32) yet were as valuable to David as an entire tribe. All their brethren were at their command because they were men who had understanding of the times, who knew what Israel should do. (1 Chr 12: 32) "

If Shimron or his children would have done something as monumental as create the Golden calf with Magic, it would have been recorded some where in the Bible, that is not something you would forget about or gloss over. Not only doesn't the Tanakh ever relay such an event, the scriptures plainly tell us of the righteousness and faithfulness of the children of Issachar.
Another explanation made by some Muslims is that as-Samiri was a Egyptian who merely came out of Egypt with the Children of Israel. The problem there is why would a Egyptian have a Hebrew name? Honestly this is just blind speculation, the theory as-Samiri is really Simon the Samaritan of the book of Act is just as much or even more probable.
Now we have a first hand record of what happened from the time of Moses in the Torah, there is no need to speculate..
Exodus 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.?
Ex 32:2 Aaron answered them, take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.?
Ex 32:3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.
Ex 32:4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, these are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.?
Ex 32:5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD.?
This is the record the People of God have had for eons before Muhammad came into the world to oppose it with his revisionist history. It's obvious that since Islam holds Aaron is a prophet and prophets cannot commit major sin, something had to be done to "fix" the story, thus the invention of as-Samiri ..wa-lah!
